Property for sale in Potamos, Kythira
Potamos is the largest village of northern Kythira, an inland market town on the road across the island, with a square, shops, the island's Sunday market and a year-round population. It is the practical centre of the north, near the ferry and the airport, and a village of old houses in a landscape of stone walls and dry hills. It suits buyers who want a village house to restore with services at the door, rather than a summer place on the coast.

Area guide
The market village
Potamos is where the north of Kythira does its business: the Sunday market fills the square, the shops and services of the north are here, and the roads to Agia Pelagia, to the ferry and to Chora meet in the village. The houses are stone, many of them neoclassical in a modest way, and the hamlets around the village continue the pattern into the countryside.
Houses and prices
The market here is village houses, some restored and many to restore, along with land at the edges of the village and in the surrounding hamlets. Kythira has no price index we can cite, and the island's market is thin and seasonal; we do not quote an average for Potamos, and asking prices appear on each listing. What can be said is that prices on Kythira are generally below those of the northern Ionian, and that the supply is mostly houses to restore, restored stone houses and a small number of villas. Buyers are Athenians, diaspora Kytherians restoring family houses, and a few Europeans who want a village with life through the winter.
