The bay
The bay of Alykes faces north-east towards the mainland, with the beach running on to Alykanas and the land behind it flat and cultivated as far as the village of Katastari at the foot of the hills. The old salt pans lie behind the beach. The town and airport are to the south along the coast road; the villages of the north begin above Katastari.
Property and prices
Alykes has holiday apartments and small hotels along the front, houses in the village and in Katastari, and villas with pools on the slopes behind with views over the bay. Portal averages in 2026 put the Alykes municipal unit, which covers Alykes, Alykanas and Katastari, at around €2,450 per square metre, the lowest of the island's coastal units but up almost 10% on the year, the strongest rise on Zakynthos. As an indicative band, a new villa here is offered at €0.4–1 million. Buyers are British on a value budget, Dutch and Belgian investors, and German-speaking purchasers who prefer this quieter coast to the south of the island.
