Property for sale in Zakynthos Town, Zakynthos
Zakynthos Town is the capital and port of the island, on the east coast facing the Peloponnese, rebuilt after the 1953 earthquake in a plain style around arcaded streets, a long waterfront and the hill of Bochali above. The airport is a short drive away and the ferry to Kyllini takes about an hour. It suits buyers who want an apartment or town house with year-round life, or a house on Bochali with the view over the town and the bay.

Area guide
The town and Bochali
The town runs along the harbour beneath the hill of Bochali, whose Venetian castle and villages look down over the roofs and out to the Peloponnese. The centre keeps the island's administration, shops, hospital and its winter life, and the ferry quay at the southern end of the waterfront serves the Kyllini crossing, the island's main road link to the mainland. Argassi and the Vasilikos peninsula begin just south of the town.
The market
Apartments and town houses in the centre, houses on the slopes of Bochali, and plots and villas in the villages behind the town make up the stock. Portal averages in 2026 put the Zakynthos town unit, which covers Bochali, Argassi and the Vasilikos peninsula, at around €3,000 per square metre, up under 2% on the year in the flattest of the Ionian markets. As an indicative band, town houses are offered at €0.2–0.6 million. Buyers are Greek households alongside British and other foreign purchasers who want a base with services, and the town is a practical choice for winter use in a way the resorts are not. Zante, as British and Italian buyers still call the island, is in the €800,000 Golden Visa zone.
