Property for sale in Argostoli, Kefalonia
Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia and its largest town, on a sheltered gulf on the west of the island, rebuilt after 1953 on a plain grid around a long waterfront and a central square. The airport is a short drive south. It suits buyers who want an apartment or town house with year-round services, a winter life and a base from which the rest of the island is within an hour or so.

Area guide
The town
Argostoli sits on the inner shore of its gulf, with the Lixouri ferry crossing the water in front of it and the old stone bridge of Drapano crossing the head of the bay. The centre has the island's administration, hospital, shops and the only real urban life on Kefalonia; Lassi and its beaches are on the peninsula behind the town.
Apartments and houses
This is the one place on the island with a proper market in apartments, from post-war blocks in the centre to newer buildings on the edges, along with town houses and villas on the slopes above the gulf. Portal averages in 2026 put the Argostoli municipal unit at around €2,650 per square metre, up more than 11% on the year, one of the strongest rises on Kefalonia. Buyers include Greek households and diaspora Kefalonians returning from the United States and Australia, British and Israeli purchasers who want a rentable apartment near the airport, and owners of villas elsewhere on the island who keep a flat in town for winter use. Kefalonia, with around 36,000 inhabitants, is in the €800,000 Golden Visa zone.
