The peninsula
The Paliki is a broad, rolling peninsula, less mountainous than the rest of the island, with cliffs on its western side and a low coast facing the gulf. Lixouri stands on the gulf shore facing Argostoli, and the ferry between the two is the everyday link; by road the journey round the head of the gulf is much longer. The villages inland are agricultural, and the peninsula as a whole has seen little of the resort building of the south coast.
Houses and prices
The market is village houses and town property rather than villas: stone houses to restore in the villages, houses and apartments in Lixouri, and land with sea views on the west and south of the peninsula. Portal averages in 2026 put the Paliki municipal unit at just under €2,000 per square metre, the lowest of the island's coastal units and roughly a third below the south coast. As an indicative band, houses on the Paliki are offered at €0.15–0.5 million, with village houses from about €150,000. Buyers are British and German-speaking retirees and second-home owners looking for value, and Kefalonian families of the diaspora with roots in the villages.
