It is quieter than Skala to the south and more of a working place. Setting
The town is squeezed between the sea and the hills, with the road from Sami arriving through a cleft in the mountain and the harbour at the southern end of the beach. The ferry to Kyllini makes Poros the shortest link between Kefalonia and the Peloponnese, which matters to owners who drive down from Athens. Skala and its sandy coast are a short drive south; Argostoli and the airport are about an hour away across the island.
