Area guide
The town
The town is laid out on flat ground between the lagoon and the sea, with the marina of some 620 berths on its eastern side and the swing bridge to the mainland at its northern edge. Earthquakes shaped the architecture: the upper floors are timber and sheet metal on stone bases, a construction that gives the streets their particular look. The airport at Aktion is about 25 kilometres from the causeway, and Athens is around four hours by road.
Apartments and houses
Lefkada Town is the one place on the island where apartments form a real market, alongside town houses in the old streets and villas on the low hills to the south. Portal averages in 2026 put the Lefkada town unit at around €3,400 per square metre, below the east and south coasts and the one coastal unit where asking prices eased slightly over the year. Buyers are more mixed than on the coast, with Greek households alongside the foreign purchasers who make up about 70% of demand on Lefkada, and winter use is realistic here in a way it is not in the resort villages.
