Setting
The village sits where the cultivated slopes of the east coast meet the higher ground of the interior, and its position gives many of the houses a long view over Nidri and Vlicho Bay to Skorpios and the mainland. The road through it continues up to Karya and the plateau villages. It is a quiet place in every season, with a small permanent population.
The market
Vafkeri offers old stone houses in the village, a few of them restored by foreign owners, together with plots and ruins on the terraces around it that suit a rebuild. The reliable portal figures on Lefkada are for the coastal units; the interior samples are too small to quote, and asking prices here are well below the €4,100 per square metre recorded for the Ellomenos unit on the coast below. As a frame, agency guidance puts a village house to renovate on Lefkada at €1,300–2,200 per square metre plus €800–1,200 per square metre of works. Buyers are mainly northern European, drawn by the view and by the road access from Preveza airport, and a number of them keep a boat at Nidri.
